El 10 de junio de 2020, los socios andaluces del proyecto INFACT organizaron un taller online con el título “Taller de integración de los Sitios de Referencia INFACT en el sector minero de Andalucía”. Los socios encargados de organizar el taller fueron la Agencia de Innovación y Desarrollo de Andalucía (IDEA), las consultoras AT Clave S.L. y Geognosia S.L., la Federación Europea de Geólogos (EFG), y las empresas mineras Cobre las Cruces S.A. y Atalaya Mining S.A. Además, el coordinador del proyecto HZDR y el socio Fraunhofer participaron como ponentes durante el taller.
El evento contó con una cuarentena de participantes. Representantes de agentes nacionales y regionales, relacionados con la exploración minera del sector público y privado, grupos de investigación y académicos quisieron aportar su visión sobre la integración vertical y horizontal de sitios de referencia que promuevan ecosistemas mineros sostenibles.
Los objetivos del taller fueron la exploración de las nuevas oportunidades de integración y explotación de los sitios de referencia de INFACT, el ensayo de nuevas tecnologías y equipos de exploración minera no invasiva, así como el análisis de viabilidad en las tres regiones de prueba o referencia elegidas para el proyecto en la Unión Europea. Una de estas regiones se encuentra en Andalucía, España, donde las empresas Cobre las Cruces S.A y Atalaya Mining S.A tienen derechos mineros. Los otros lugares se encuentran en el norte de Finlandia y en el centro de Alemania. Mediante el desarrollo y empleo de estas tecnologías innovadoras y no invasivas se pretende que la exploración minera sea más sostenible y también mejorar la aceptación social de esta actividad.
El taller permitió la difusión de los resultados provisionales de INFACT y el análisis del interés del ecosistema minero y tecnológico andaluz por los lugares de referencia del proyecto en Andalucía. Con este taller y debates se pretende contribuir a posicionar Andalucía como un Hub y Centro de Excelencia Internacional en lo que se refiere a la minería sostenible.

The INFACT online workshop explores the opportunities of integration and exploitation in Andalusia
On 10 June 2020, the INFACT partners from the Spanish reference site organised the workshop “Integration of the INFACT Reference Sites in the Mining Sector of Andalusia”. The partners organising the event were the Innovation and Deployment Agency of Andalucia (IDEA), AT Clave, Geognosia, the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) and the mining companies Cobre las Cruces and Atalaya Mining. The project coordinator HZDR and the partner Fraunhofer also participated as speakers during the workshop.
The event had around 40 participants. Representatives of national and regional agents connected to mineral exploration in the public and private sector, research groups and academics participated to share their ideas for the horizontal and vertical integration of the reference sites where the innovative geophysical and remote sensing technologies were tested.
The objectives of the workshop were the analysis of new opportunities for integration and exploitation of the INFACT reference sites, the test of the new non-invasive technologies for mineral exploration and the study of viability in the three reference regions in the European Union. One of these regions is in Andalusia, Spain, where the companies Cobre las Cruces and Atalaya Mining have mining rights. The other regions are in the North of Finland and in the centre of Germany. Innovative and non-invasive technologies have been developed and tested with the objective of making mining more sustainable and socially accepted.
The first results of the INFACT project were presented during the workshop. The event was also an opportunity to analyse the interest by the regional mining sector in the Andalusian reference site. The workshop showcased the potential of Andalusia as a Hub and international excellence centre for sustainable mining.
